Volunteer Month All Star – Last But Not Least

Like I mentioned at the start of this month, we’ve had so many incredible volunteers over the past year, it was incredibly difficult to try to narrow it down to one that stood out among the rest.  However, one person continuously showed up throughout 2019… After volunteering at White Light White Night in 2018, he then joined our committee in 2019, quickly took on a leadership role, was a constant support at our special events, joined our Advisory Board and then lead a fundraising team for our Friendship Bowl fundraiser in early 2020.  His willingness to jump in and support wherever and whenever needed is a nonprofit’s dream!  Our final All Star for 2020 is Jim McErlean!!

Thank you Jim for jumping in and never saying no! We are so grateful for your hard work, time, and selfless dedication as an ambassador for Walk With Sally!

May is Military Appreciation Month

As we close in on May and Military Appreciation Month, we would be remiss if we didn’t give a big round of applause to the incredible volunteers from the U.S. Air Force base in El Segundo. For nearly 10 years now, members of the U.S. Air Force have recruited a large portion of the volunteer staff necessary to make White Light White Night possible. Thank you Los Angeles Air Force Base for your service to our country AND our community!

Thinking About Volunteering?

Right now, during this coronavirus crisis, it’s more important than ever for children to have positive relationships they can connect with.

  • Sustained, positive relationships with caring adults can help mitigate the harmful effects of childhood trauma, like depression or cardiovascular disease.
  • All the kids in our program have already endured the trauma of seeing a close family member battle cancer, this new crisis and dramatic shift due social distancing and isolation will only serve to exacerbate these harmful effects.

By connecting with a child and becoming a mentor, YOU can be the difference for a child who has had their world turned upside down for a second time in their short lives.

Fill our our volunteer form to let us know if you’d like to become a mentor, or help in another way, and someone will get in touch with you right away!
