Because of your willingness to Stand Up For A Friendship at our Red, White & Brew event on June 5th, supporting a Match in its first year, we were able to match Steven and Josue on 6/16/2016
Josue joined WWS because his father left him at a young age and his mother recently found out she had breast cancer. Josue’s mother, Ruth, wanted Josue to have a positive male role model to give him support and allow him to be a kid, and we knew the perfect mentor, Steven. Steven’s mother lost her battle to ovarian cancer in 2015 and knows exactly what it is like to be scared and fearful surrounding the cancer diagnoses. They look forward to going to the park to play basketball and celebrating Josue’s 17th birthday together over the summer.
