The Annenberg Space for Photography is an entirely new cultural destination dedicated to exhibiting both digital and print photography in an intimate environment. The space features state-of-the-art, high-definition digital technology as well as traditional prints by some of the world's most renowned photographers and a selection of emerging photographic talents as well. Most visitors find an hour or two provides just the right amount of time to take in all that the galleries have to offer, but the building faces a beautiful grassy knoll, perfect for dining outdoors or soaking in some Los Angeles sunshine. Validated self-parking is in the garage directly beneath the building.

If you want to stand nose to nose with a great white shark, this tiny museum is the place to go. In the back room of this wharf souvenir store is a taxidermy-mounted 16 1/2-foot great white shark that hangs over a sandy beach in an aquarium setting. The shark is mounted from the wall, which makes it look as if it is actually swimming through the water. Also on display are shark-related items. The shop sells shells, marine specimens, rocks, jewelry and a variety of interesting stuffed marine and land animals and fish.

Sea Aire Golf Course

Sea-Aire is a very short nine-hole, 27 par, pitch and putt golf course nestled in the Seaside Ranchos neighborhood of South Torrance. It's a low-stress, relatively low-cost place to learn the game. Club and ball rental available.

Docent-led tours of this California State Historic Landmark on Sunday are at 1:00, 2:00, and 3:00 p.m. The first rancho grant in California of over 75,000 acres was given by King Carlos the third of Spain to the Spanish soldier Juan Jose Dominguez and upon his death the Rancho land was inherited by his grand nephew Manuel Dominguez. The property is also the site of the very first air meet in the United States in 1910 and the second air meet in the world.

A visit to Angels Gate Park will get you three diverse experiences with one parking spot. The Angels Gate Cultural Center houses 48 artists with studios on the former Fort MacArthur military reservation, deeded to the city of Los Angeles for parkland in 1979. The park is open to the public, and artists don't mind if you peek in briefly to watch them at work. A short stroll to the west (or you can drive) takes you to Fort MacArthur Military Museum, and from there you also can walk or drive down the hill to the Korean Friendship Bell, a shrine dedicated to peace. Located on one of the most scenic viewpoints on the coast, this is a magnificent setting for a picnic. Wrap up your stop with a visit to the Marine Mammal Animal care facility also on the grounds of Angels Gate Park.

Bring your own lunch and enjoy a picnic on the lawn adjacent to the Central Garden or at any of the Getty Center's public seating areas.

This state-of-the-art science museum easily merits a day-long visit to experience fully all three floors of stimulating - and fun - hands-on exhibitions and activities.

The Science Plaza and the Lorsch Pavilion have magenta skylights cast moving shadows of color over the ground below - with sculptures accessible for exploring and paving stones that pose thought-provoking questions.

The World of Life gallery features interactive exhibits that show there are basic functions all living things must do in order to survive.

Creative World offers hands-on exhibitions about communication, transportation, and structures. Experience a simulated earthquake to learn how buildings can be made structurally sound; drive a virtual vehicle to safely learn how different vehicles operate; or have a conversation with people in a variety of locations in the Science Center through a video hookup.

Located on the third level, 43 feet above the atrium floor, on a one-inch cable, the High Wire Bicycle beckons to those old enough, big enough and BRAVE enough to try it. (Note that an extra fee applies.)

Nearby is the entrance to the Weingart Special Exhibits Gallery, featuring exhibits from other museums. Exhibits in this gallery change three to four times a year.

The SKETCH Foundation Gallery, featuring air and space exhibits, stands as one of the unique features of Exposition Park, with its dramatic concrete and metal design by world-renown architect, Frank Gehry

Shark feedings and shark-themed films are the highlights of Sundays at the aquarium. Short films are shown at scheduled intervals throughout the afternoon, and at 3:30pm there is an informative presentation about the much misunderstood animals. Meanwhile, horn and swell sharks cruise the tank, noses out of the water, mouths open, anticipating the meal to come. Kids can make a shark craft project.

Relive the History of San Pedro. Old Fire Station 36 is housed in one of the oldest buildings still standing in San Pedro, California. Old Station 36 includes some remarkable LAFD apparatus, artifacts from the San Pedro area and some of the most famous fires in this part of the city, and much more. A small store offers up a variety of goodies, ranging from authentic LAFD merchandise to memorial bracelets.

Children and their accompanying parent or adult learn about tool safety while building birdhouses, fire trucks, mail organizers, and other items from pre-fab kits.
